Softball Association of Sylvan Lake
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Will there be any concern with Softball Alberta?

No, we have the full support of Softball Alberta. They have already provided us with guarantees. They are looking forward to the launch of our new association... Softball Association of Sylvan Lake.

What will registration fees look like?

Our intent is to keep fees similar to what families are used to. To support this, we will be pursuing sponsorships to help cover initial costs such as jerseys, gear and other startup needs.

What will Diamond and play time look like?

we already have an agreement in place with the town. while details are still being finalized, we've been assured that fair diamond access will continue. In fact, beginning in 2026 we expect to have even more diamond time. Which means more practices and game opportunities. For indoor/winter space, discussions are ongoing but both we and the town expect similar access as t he past.

Sponsorship opportunities?

we are confident that local families and businesses will rally behind us. We will be hosting our AGM mid November and will be ready to present a clear sponsorship package. The support of this community will be critical in helping us reach our goals. If you would like to sponsor please email us @ general.inquiries.sasl@gmail.com

Where will the fees go?

Fees will cover our diamond time, umpires, equipment and both players and for the coach development. Transparency is priority for us. we will be making all the financials available to members whether it be monthly or annually, so everyone understands how the funds are being used.

why are we creating a new stand alone softball association?

This is not about pointing fingers. Our group simply felt the time was right to sperate and focus on just softball. We want to ensure our girls have every opportunity to play and develop right here in Sylvan Lake without feeling the need to leave for other communities. Our vision is to build a program that is recognized provincially for excellence, year round development and competitive opportunities. *Our research shows that the majority of association across Alberta have separate baseball and softball. *The ability to control softball finances... to be able to put all the funds back into softball programs.

Requests to move up/age levels and concerns

we will continue to advocate for our players where appropriate. any requests to move up will follow the proper Softball Alberta guidelines and our focus will remain on what is best for the development and safety of our athletes.
