Meet the Founding Interim Board Members

      Meet the Founding-interim Board Members

President- Dallas Olsen

Dallas is a proud dad, loving husband and dedicated softball coach who brings heart, humor and wisdom to everything he does. Known as the big teddy bear both on and off the field.  Dallas values teamwork, respect, honesty and life lessons as much as the game itself…… often sharing his trademark “ bucket talks” that inspire his players to grow as athletes and people. When he’s not coaching, he enjoys camping, fishing, quading adventures, cooking up something delicious, playing video games and quality time with his family.  He enjoys a good movie, board games or sitting around a fire on a cool afternoon.

Vice President- Ben James

Ben grew up playing baseball and began coaching minor ball shortly after high school. As his daughters became active in sports, his passion for coaching expanded — especially within the Sylvan Lake softball community. Since 2022, Ben has been involved in coaching at various levels, from Rookie and U9 to U11, and continues to stay active in the program alongside his daughter. As Vice President of the Softball Association of Sylvan Lake, Ben’s goal is to help strengthen and grow the success of softball within the community, fostering an environment where both players and the program can thrive. He hopes to see the association grow beyond expectations while channeling his lifelong love of sports into creating positive, lasting experiences for young athletes. For Ben, coaching is about more than skills — it’s about teaching humility, confidence, sportsmanship, and the joy of being part of a team field.

Diamond Coordinator/ Tournament Coordinator - Therese French-Nadeau

Therese is a married mother of two  navigating the balance of being a travel lover, homebody, who loves to cheer her kids on through their variety of sports. Whether it’s hosting get-togethers or stepping into her new role supporting the softball community, she enjoys being part of the action and making the most of her administrative skills. When she’s not working, you’ll find her spending time with family or cheering on her kids, nieces, and nephews at the rink, ballpark, or gymnasiums while dreaming about her next adventure.

Secretary/Registrar- Meghan Bateman

My name is Meghan and I have lived in Sylvan Lake for the last 20 years. Four years ago, my daughter signed up to play softball in Sylvan and was immediately hooked. Since then we have spent countless hours at the ball diamonds and practicing with family in the green spaces. Although stepping out of my comfort zone to take on this position I am willing to learn just about anything to see our softball girls have a place to play that supports them and builds them up. I am a firm believer that if kids are able to participate in their passion, they have no time to get into trouble! Let’s build these girls up and see their talent and love of the sport shine.

Fundraiser/Grants- Erin Arbeau

Erin is a devoted mom, wife, coach and an inspiration both on and off the field. Living on an acreage with her husband, daughter and a handful of beloved fur babies. She brings heart and balance to everything she does. When she’s not playing or coaching softball, you’ll find her reading a good book, working in her garden, getting strong at the gym or expressing her artsy side through creative projects. She also loves quading, camping and exploring the great outdoors with her family. Loyal, Strong, loving and passionate…. Erin embodies the perfect blend of dedication, adventure and positivity that inspires everyone around her.

Social Media/Website- Amanda Noble

Amanda is a proud  wife and  mom of two teenage girls. You will often see her pulling a wagon with chairs and snacks at the ball diamond in preparation to cheer our Sylvan Softball players on.   When she is not at the diamond cheering  she loves to spend time glamping wherever the oil patch takes her husband, gardening and canning whatever she has helped grow for the year. She is excited  to spotlight all  the SASL young ladies throughout the year and keeping  the softball family informed about all that is happening.

Competition Coordinator- Brock Armstrong

Brock  is a dedicated coach and community leader with over a decade of experience mentoring young athletes in Sylvan Lake. His coaching journey spans hockey, softball, and baseball, and he has also contributed his expertise at the Red Deer Dome. Passionate about fostering growth both on and off the field, Brock has served on multiple boards and executive committees, where he’s played a pivotal role in shaping policies that empower athletes to thrive. His commitment to sport and community continues to make a lasting impact.
